I can conservatively estimate that probably 80% of the total experience on my nearly-maxed account has been gained while working or watching movies/shows. Honestly you can probably count on your fingers the number of long grinds in the game that require you to ACTUALLY be playing the game. You could do it while you watch netflix, or while you work your desk job, or while you cook dinner, or work out, or whatever. You could do that fishing simultaneously with just about anything. ![]() That's not actually 50 hours of sitting in front of your computer grinding Runescape. But for many of those grinds, you're really not actually playing the game. For example, you might hear something like "it takes over 50 hours to get 90 fishing" or whatever. So you're really only limited by your own effort that you're willing to put into researching and understanding the game.Ī lot of the sheer numbers you see getting thrown around are really intimidating, but in reality they're nowhere near that, especially now that the game is on mobile. You hardly need any skills above about level 90 (which isn't even halfway to max) and most of the extremely expensive gear upgrades are also the smallest upgrades, squeezing out that last couple percent of dps that no one really "needs". Most/all of the truly arduous grinds in this game are completely unnecessary. By "functionally max" I don't mean actual max, which would be 99 in all skills and all the best gear (that takes many many thousands of hours) rather I mean hitting a level of combat and skills which will allow you to effectively participate in any/all content in the game which you might like to do. And that account would be basically "caught up" to everyone else. I would say that an experienced and knowledgeable player could probably functionally max a fresh account in under a year's time as long as he's playing consistently and efficiently and is able to afk often. It doesn't really take THAT long to "functionally max" in this game. But there are two huge things you should be aware of: So if you can't or won't grind for long hours (which most people don't want these days, hence why almost all games have steadily moved away from that model), this game isn't for you. OSRS players wipe their ass with 20 hours. Players of other games will bitch and moan about having to dump like 20 hours into something to get a reward. The game is very grindy, it's by FAR the grindiest "main stream" game that still exists today. Would you recommend Old School Runescape for a fresh player in 2022?
